Our goal is to help you by educating you about the things you can do to improve your credit score and how to become responsible credit holders. Here are a few of the things that you can do to improve your credit score:
Pay your bills on time, every time. This goes for your mortgage, utility bills, auto payments, and all your revolving lines of credit such as your credit cards.
Be credit smart. Never charge more than 30 percent of the available balance on any credit card. Banks like to see credit cards that aren’t maxed out and a history of on-time payments. Make paying them down below 30 percent a priority.
Use your credit cards wisely. Some people think that banning credit cards is the right way to go. However, if you use credit cards wisely and pay on time, your credit score will improve. For instance, if you pay your utility bills using automatic payments with your credit card, it will ensure your bills are paid on time each month. You then have to make sure to pay that balance in full by the next due date, and then it will show a positive with your credit card transactions as well.
Leave your credit cards at home. If you, like many, are a compulsive buyer, leave your credit cards at home. You cannot give in to a temptation to buy if you don’t have the credit cards in your wallet.
Keep you accounts open. A major factor in your credit score is how long your accounts have been positively active. Every now and then, make small purchases to show positive activity. Showing long-term, positive accounts will improve your credit score, can qualify you for better loans, and can lower interest rates.
Check your credit score annually. By checking your credit report at least once a year, you can challenge any bad information promptly.
By signing up with Credit Refit, you will learn how to become more responsible consumers.
